Location:Zamfara state.

JOB PURPOSE

The MEAL Officer is responsible to ensure timely implementation of MEAL activities and to strengthen CFRM support across Gusau, Anka, and Maru LGAs in Zamfara State.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participate in planning and undertaking surveys, rapid assessments, as well as in the monitoring and evaluation of the program activities especially in relation to WASH, NFIs, Shelter and Protection.
  • Responsible for establishing and ensuring better data management systems for the core programs s/he assigned for and coordinates the proper and timely evaluation of project objectives/impact.
  • Ensure all programs have accountability mechanisms and works with project staff to make sure its implementation.
  • Conduct regular data verification exercises to ensure reporting and collection of quality data.
  • Participate in monitoring of all project activities, expenditures, and progress towards achieving the project output and outcomes.
  • Participate in development and strengthening monitoring and impact indicator for the project success.
  • Provide feedback to the Program Managers on project activities.
  • Organize training for front-line and program staff regarding monitoring tools.
  • Coordinate the field level community participatory monitoring and evaluation, reflective practice and impact measurement.
  • Assist the project personnel with MEAL tools and in supporting them in their use.
  • Identify and analyse data requirements for program monitoring and evaluation.
  • Develop a comprehensive data management plan.
  • Design a robust Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) Framework in adherence to donor regulations.
  • Create efficient and context-specific data collection tools.
  • Translate data collection tools as necessary to ensure accessibility and understanding.
  • Develop eligibility criteria and scoring matrices for assessments.
  • Plan and execute internal baseline and endline assessments and surveys.
  • Conduct training sessions to orient partners and the program team on the MEAL system and tools.
  • Regularly review and follow up with partners and the INTERSOS team on data collection activities.
  • Implement MEAL activities as outlined in the MEAL Framework.
  • Report figures continuously on relevant channels as per reporting requirements.
  • Produce analyses of MEAL activities and prepare narrative reports.
  • Maintain and update the Reporting Workbench (RWB) Information Tracking Tool (ITT).
  • Ensure proper archiving all data and tools in Google Drive folders.
  • Provide MEAL inputs to final project reports.
  • Conduct After-Action Review (AAR) before the project concludes.
  • Generate a comprehensive learning report based on AAR findings.
  • Perform other duties as delegated

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Professional Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Information management, Social Science, Demography, Social studies or any related field.
  • 3-5 years previous experience in similar position.
  • Desirable knowledge of monitoring and evaluation, Nutrition, protection, WaSH and Health projects in the humanitarian context.
  • English and Hausa.
  • Strong analytical skills for data analysis and interpretation.
  • Time management skills and resourcefulness with attention to details
  • Teamwork and cooperation.
  • Proficiency in data collection methodologies (quantitative and qualitative).
  • Experience with data management, databases, and relevant software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with project teams, government officials, and other partners.
