FIAP and FactCheckAfrica Showcase Gen Z-Led Solutions to Disinformation at #CheckBeforeYouPost Exhibition in Abuja
Under the EU Support to ECOWAS in Peace, Security and Governance (EPSG) Project Abuja, Nigeria — The Fundación para la Internacionalización de las Administraciones Públicas (FIAP), through its implementing frontline partner FactCheckAfrica, has concluded a two-day national exhibition and youth engagement programme showcasing creative, youth-led responses to misinformation, disinformation, and harmful online narratives ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections. The exhibition, titled “#CheckBeforeYouPost: Gen Z Voices Against Disinformation,” was held from 6–7 August 2026 at Reiz Continental Hotel, Abuja, under the EU Support to ECOWAS in Peace, Security and Governance (EPSG) Project. The first day of the exhibition provided a platform for participants from the different cohorts to exchange experiences, reflect on lessons from their respective training programmes, and develop stronger networks for collaboration. Participants also engaged in discussions on the state of Nigeria’s civic media ecosystem and explored opportunities for sustained collaboration among young digital creators and civil society organisations. The second day opened the exhibition to a broader audience and featured a showcase of creative works produced by the participating Gen Z creators. The works included campaign graphics, short-form videos, illustrations, photography, spoken word performances, songs, short films, digital content, and pilot micro-campaigns designed to promote responsible information sharing and counter harmful narratives online.…
