About Caritas Germany:

The German Caritas Association, incorporated in Germany in 1897, provides sustainable emergency relief worldwide through its international department, which is known as Caritas international in Germany (Caritas Germany outside of the country). We are mandated by the German Catholic Bishops’ Conference as Germany’s Catholic disaster relief agency. Our commitment is motivated by and based on Christian faith and Catholic social teaching. We provide disaster relief on a global scale together with a network of 162 independent national Catholic welfare associations. We also sponsor social projects for children, the elderly, the ill and people with disabilities in many parts of the world. The skills, expertise and dedication of local Caritas workers guarantee the long-term success of the roughly 650 relief projects we support globally, every year.

Our Nigeria Country Office:

Caritas Germany has contributed to the humanitarian efforts in Nigeria since 2017, through our local partners Caritas Nigeria and JDPC Maiduguri. Since 2021, Caritas Germany has been established as an international NGO in Nigeria. Our current projects are located in Borno, Adamawa, and Benue states. We are a young, ambitious team, striving to provide high quality humanitarian aid. We are committed to strengthening local partner capacities by providing relevant and professional accompaniment and making long-term positive impacts on their organizational development.

We are supportive of our staff’s personal and professional development, including national and international training opportunities.
