Inclusive Economic Empowerment (IEE) Pathways Programme – Enterprise & Employability Skills Training for Young People in Kano


Looking to secure decent employment or build a sustainable enterprise in Kano?
The Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD), with support from the British Council under its Non-Formal Education Programme, invites applications for the Inclusive Economic Empowerment (IEE) Pathways Programme 2026.
The British Council, under its Non-Formal Education (NFE) programme, is supporting the Centre for Information Technology and Development [CITAD] to implement the Exclusive Empowerment Project in Kano.
WHO CAN APPLY?
To be eligible, applicants must be:
- A Nigerian Youth between the ages of 18 and 35
- Resident of Kano Metropolis or has a place stay for the period of the training.
- available for physical and online training sessions throughout the programme period
- Have a minimum of Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) or its equivalent
- Be able to communicate in English
- For applicants on the Employability Track: Be willing to complete a 6-weeks internship with a host organization outside CITAD
- Be available to attend a physical screening exercise before final selection.
PROGRAMME STRUCTURE
IEE begins with an 8-week Foundation Phase. Participants will then progress into one of two specialised pathways based on their interests and career goals.
EMPLOYMENT PATHWAY
8-week Employment Pathway training
6-week supervised internship with a partner employer.
OR
ENTERPRISE PATHWAY
16-week Enterprise Pathway training
8 weeks of concurrent mentoring
