The year-long global fellowship is designed for emerging changemakers who are ready to strengthen their leadership, expand their projects, build international networks and increase their capacity to create lasting change in their communities.
About the Billion Acts of Peace Changemaker Fellowship
Fellows will join a global community of young leaders working across different sectors and issue areas. Participants will work within one of Billion Acts of Peace’s 10 Key Issue Areas, tackling challenges from the ground up while building peace and positive social change.
The fellowship combines mentorship, community, leadership development, project funding and opportunities to connect with international changemakers.
Sessions are designed to accommodate participants across different time zones, depending on the composition of each cohort.
What the Fellowship Offers
Year-Long Mentorship
Fellows will participate in monthly learning and mentorship sessions focused on developing the skills and competencies needed to create meaningful and sustainable change.
Global Changemaker Community
Fellows will become part of a global network that includes:

- Nonprofit professionals
- Business professionals
- Other young changemakers
Opportunities to Connect
Fellows will have opportunities to participate in PeaceJam conferences and virtual events and may be connected with global opportunities that support their projects, ambitions and leadership journeys.
Who Can Apply?
The fellowship is intended for young adults who meet the following criteria:
- Are 18–30 years old
- Are already leading or actively building a project, initiative or organisation
- Work in areas related to peace, justice, equity or social change
- Address one of the 10 Key Issue Areas of Billion Acts of Peace
- Have a project that may be an emerging nonprofit, grassroots initiative, activist project, social enterprise or mission-driven business
- Are ready to be challenged, supported and held accountable
- Have moved beyond simply having an idea and are somewhere between just starting and gaining traction
1. Positive Power & Purpose
Participants explore how personal strengths and purpose can be used to create meaningful positive change.
2. Creating Inclusive Communities
This competency focuses on collaboration, teamwork and building supportive and inclusive communities capable of contributing to a peaceful and just world.
3. Compassionate Leadership
Fellows develop leadership approaches grounded in empathy, understanding, justice and compassion.
4. Peacebuilding
Participants develop knowledge and skills to address conflict, promote harmony and contribute to peace through justice and constructive action.
5. Global Citizenship & Interconnectedness
Fellows explore shared humanity and the interconnectedness of people and the planet while developing a broader global perspective.
6. Change Agent
This competency encourages participants to take action, advocate for positive transformation and become proactive agents of change in their communities and beyond.
Application Assessment
Applications will be assessed primarily on substance and fit, rather than polished writing or English-language ability.
Applicants are encouraged to communicate in their own authentic voice and demonstrate the substance of the work they are already doing.
The fellowship organisers specifically encourage applicants not to rely on generative AI when completing their applications, as they want to hear directly from each applicant and understand their genuine experiences, motivations and vision.
