Maintenance Agent – BAUCHI Project at Médecins Sans Frontières

Main Purpose
Perform repair/maintenance / construction works, according to the supervisor’s instructions and MSF standards, in order to ensure proper operations and prevent faults / deterioration of MSF equipment / installations /infrastructures.
Job Description
- Conduct daily inspections and perform preventive maintenance on buildings, installations, and equipment (e.g., air conditioners, plumbing, carpentry and electrical systems).
- Identify and report any defects or repair needs to the line manager and take necessary action to resolve.
- Execute minor repair works such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and painting tasks as required.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests to ensure smooth and continuous operations.
- Ensure all maintenance tools, equipment, and materials are correctly used, stored, and maintained.
- Maintain an up-to-date inventory of maintenance materials and request replenishment as needed.
- Adhere to and promote safety protocols during all maintenance activities.
- Properly use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and maintain a clean and safe working environment after each task.
- Record all maintenance activities carried out in each facility and report them to the line manager.
- Escalate major technical issues or recurring problems to the supervisor for further assessment.
- Provide technical support during construction, rehabilitation, and installation works.
- Receive Job requests from each department and provide technical support as needed.
- Respond to emergency maintenance issues such as power failures or water leakages to minimize operational disruptions.
- Contribute to the planning and execution of preventive maintenance schedules.
- Report the accomplished maintenance tasks to the line manager on a regular basis.
Requirements
Education : Literacy essential
Experience : Previous experience desirable.
Languages: English and Hausa language are essential.
Knowledge: Essential ability to do basic repairs
