About the Project
Data Aid is supporting a project through the assessment of waste management systems with the aim of addressing the growing challenges of urban waste disposal, environmental safety, and operational efficiency in major towns across the State. With rapid urbanization and increasing waste generation, the existing waste management infrastructure is under significant strain. This project seeks to evaluate current waste management practices, identify system inefficiencies, and propose sustainable solutions to enhance waste collection, processing, and disposal. Key focus areas include the establishment of designated waste collection points, recycling centers, and landfill sites to streamline waste handling, alongside the analysis of waste generation patterns and disposal routes to optimize resource utilization and minimize environmental impact.
Role Summary
Data Aid is seeking experienced Waste Management Specialists with expertise in Reporting, implementation, policy analysis, and technology integration to contribute to the Comprehensive Waste Management System Assessment project. Selected specialists will be responsible for evaluating existing waste management systems, proposing policy enhancements, and integrating cutting-edge technologies to promote sustainable practices. The role requires a waste management publication.
Key Responsibilities
1. Implementation
- Design and implement strategies for sustainable waste management practices.
- Establish monitoring frameworks to track progress and evaluate effectiveness.
- Conduct site visits to assess compliance with environmental standards and guidelines.
- Develop training programs for local stakeholders on waste management practices.
- Identify and mitigate risks during project implementation, including developing contingency plans.
2. Policy Analysis and Compliance
- Review existing national and local waste management policies and regulations.
- Identify policy gaps and recommend reforms for improved governance and compliance.
- Engage stakeholders, including government agencies, private waste operators, and community groups, to address policy challenges.
- Prepare policy briefs and recommendations to enhance waste management frameworks.
- Conduct training sessions on regulatory compliance for waste management operators.
3. Technology Integration
- Assess current technologies in waste collection, segregation, and monitoring.
- Recommend and design integrated technology solutions, such as GPS-enabled collection systems and waste tracking platforms.
- Develop a technology roadmap with cost estimates and phased implementation plans.
- Coordinate pilot testing of new technologies and provide technical support to local teams.
- Draft technical specifications for procurement of technology systems aligned with international standards.
