The Nigerian Army (NA) is pleased to inform the general public that the list of successful candidates for Short Service Combatant Commission (SSCC) Course 49/2026 Selection Board is available at the NA’s recruitment website; https://recruitment.army.mil.ng. The shortlisted candidates are to report to the Nigerian Defence Academy Ribadu Campus (Old Site), Kaduna State on 1 December 2025. Candidates are advised to be in Kaduna on 30 November 2025 and report to the Selection Board venue between 6 am 11 am on 1 December 2025.

2. Candidates will be required to produce original and at least 2 photocopies of the following in a file jacket:

a. All academic/professional certificates including testimonials, NYSC discharge or valid Exemption Certificate as applicable.

b. Valid birth certificate as endorsed by the National Population Commission, hospital and Local Government Council of birth or valid age declaration.

C. Valid certificate of state of origin.

d. Official Leave/Pass and Military Identity Card (military personnel only).

e. Letter of recommendation by Commanding Officers/Commanders (military personnel only).

f. Printed Bank Verification Number (BVN) certificate authenticated by a bank and NIN slip/card.

g. Con Completed copies of print outs from the SSCC portal including referee forms.

3. Candidates are to also bring along the following items:

a. Writing materials.

b. Three (3) pairs of blue shorts and 3 pairs of plain white short sleeve T-shirts.

с. A pair of white canvas shoes/trainers and 3 pairs of white socks.

d. Bucket and toiletries.

e. A set of cutlery including plates and drinking cups.

f. Beddings; to include, blankets, bedspreads and pillow cases etc.

8. Four (4) copies of recent full-size coloured photographs at standing position in suit and

4 recent coloured passport photographs.

h. Scratch cards for online confirmation of WAEC and/or NECO results.

4. Candidates must come with a duly signed Letter of Consent from Parent/Guardian, declaring that they shall not claim any compensation or relief for any injury or death, which may occur in the course of the activities conducted by the Selection Board. The Letter of Consent is to be made at a recognised court of law and endorsed by the Commissioner of oath.

5. The Selection Exercise will involve documents (certificates/credentials) verification, followed by physical, medical and academic tests as well as an oral interview for all candidates.

6. Candidates are to note that any alteration on their documents will render such documents invalid.

7. Candidates will be accommodated and fed throughout the duration of the Selection Board.

8. Candidates will be responsible for their transportation to and from the Selection Board.

9. The use of personal/private vehicles by candidates is strictly prohibited throughout the duration of the Selection Board.

10. Visitors will not be allowed throughout the duration of the Selection Board.

11. Shortlisted SSCC Course 49/2026 candidates are to report at the Nigerian Defence Academy Old Site, Kaduna State on 1 December 2025 from 6 am 11 am. Candidates who arrive after 11 am on 1 December 2025 will be automatically disqualified.

12. A high standard of discipline is expected from all candidates. Candidates who violate any instruction during the Selection Board will be disqualified.

NOTE: Due to the military nature of the Exercise, the Nigerian Army shall not be liable for any injuries/deaths recorded in the course of the Selection Board

General Instructions

(1) Candidates are to note that there will be no Pre-Selection Computer Based Test.

(2) No special center for recruitment.

(3) There will be no Zonal Screening Exercise.

(4) All screening of potential recruits will be conducted at the candidates’ respective state of origin.

(5) Candidates are not to bring electronic or recording devices to the venue of the State Recruitment Exercise.

(6) Tattoo, piercing or inscription on any part of the body other than tribal marks are not allowed.

(7) Multiple piercing of ears for females are not allowed.

(8) Candidates must tender all original copies of educational certificates (primary to secondary).

(9) Candidates must not belong to any cult/society/fraternity.

(10) Any candidate who falsifies or forges his/her results and is discovered even during training at Depot Nigerian Army would be withdrawn from training.

(11) Candidates are strongly advised, in their own interest, not to offer any form of gratification or inducement to any individual or group in an attempt to influence the recruitment process, as recruitment into the Nigerian Army is completely FREE.

(12) Candidates are to come with their NIN slip and BVN print out.

(14) Names of shortlisted candidates for screening will be published on only Nigerian Army Recruitment website for awareness of all candidates.

(15) Shortlisted candidates are expected to report to their respective states of origin for the screening exercise from 4 – 17 Dec 25.

(16) All candidates are once again reminded that recruitment into the Nigerian Army is FREE.

2.SSC / DSSC Application

Candidates applying for the SSC / DSSC (Short Service Commission / Direct Short Service Commission) are strongly encouraged to carefully review the eligibility criteria, especially the requirement of a Higher National Diploma (HND) / Bachelor’s degree. This ensures they meet the necessary qualifications and are fully prepared for successful consideration.
