WACSI is seeking an intern to support the Node’s work. The internship offers an opportunity to enhance civic consciousness and develop professional capacity. The intern will be embedded in WACSI’s core areas of work and contribute to the planning and implementation of activities at WACSI Node Nigeria.

The West Africa Civil Society Institute (WACSI) is a regional non-governmental organisation dedicated to enhancing the capacities of civil society organisations in West Africa toward greater sustainability and operational and development effectiveness.

As part of its effort to deepen engagement with broader civil society organisation platforms in Nigeria, WACSI established a nodal office (WACSI Node) in Abuja in November 2022 to cater for the capacity strengthening needs of civil society groups and formations in the country.

WACSI is therefore looking for an intern interested in enhancing his/her civic consciousness and developing his/her professional capacity. The intern will be embedded in WACSI’s core areas of work and will be responsible for providing the necessary support in the planning and implementation of the Institute’s activities in WACSI Node Nigeria.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct desktop research on policy and legislative issues
  • Assist in gathering information and writing reports for policy meetings
  • Assist in policy meetings and workshop preparation
  • Assist in the development of policy advocacy training tool
  • Support other administrative tasks

. The institute will support interns with a monthly stipend.

·      Preference will be given to applicants with a high proficiency in English.

·      The successful intern will spend a substantial part of her/his internship at the WACSI office in Abuja, Nigeria

Qualification

Applicants must have a minimum of a first

Degree in international affairs

Degree in political science

Degree in public policy

Degree in law

Degree in Development studies, or related fields.

Applicants should also show an interest in civil society and non-profit organization management.

Skills

✅strong research, writing and communication (verbal and written) skills.

✅Proficiency in Microsoft office and strong internet research skills.

✅Works well under pressure with minimal supervision and in a multi-cultural environment.

✅Excellent interpersonal skills.

✅Proactive

✅willing to learn and take initiatives

Good to have skills
Commitment to WACSI’s vision and values and demonstrated interest in civil society.
