About the MAMII state focal point

Maternal mortality remains a significant public health challenge in Nigeria, with high rates of
maternal deaths due to complications during pregnancy and childbirth. The
Maternal Mortality Reduction Initiative (MAMII) is a strategic program aimed at
improving maternal health outcomes through strengthening health systems,
community engagement, and ensuring access to quality maternal services. The
organization is collaborating with FMoH, SWAp, NPHCDA, NHIA and NEMSAS to
coordinate the execution the priority MAMII interventionsThe State Focal
Person will play a vital role in supporting the effective implementation,
supervision, and monitoring of MAMII activities at the state level, ensuring
alignment with national policies and standards.

 

Key Objectives

  • provide coordination and management support for
    MAMII implementation in collaboration with state Mamii task teams and desk
    officers
  • Facilitate reporting and data collection for
    intervention progress and analysis
  • Document progress, challenges, and success
    stories to inform continuous improvement and advocacy

Technical Responsibilities- Scope of work

Support For MAMII Implementation and Coordination
  • Collaborate with state MAMII task teams and TWGs
    to plan and implement MAMII interventions across priority LGAs

Supervision and Monitoring

  • Conduct routine visits to facilities and community sites to ensure adherence to maternal health protocols and proper commodities management.
  • Develop reports on progress, challenges, and recommendations to inform ongoing improvements and advocacy

Documentation

  • Document success stories, lessons learned, and best practices in collaboration with communication teams.
  • Consultant will also participate in internal Solina’s problem solving sessions to brainstorm on solutions for challenges identified

Work Experience & Qualifications

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Nursing, Community Development, or relevant fields
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working in maternal health, community health, or health program supervision
  • Proven experience in monitoring health interventions, community engagement, and referral systems.
  • Familiarity with community resource groups, health insurance schemes, and emergency transport systems.
  • Strong organizational, supervisory, and coordination skills.
  • excellent interpersonal, communication, photography and reporting skills.
  • Ability to work independently, demonstrate initiative, and handle multiple tasks.
  • Knowledge of local cultural norms and the health system context is preferred.

Fluency in English and Local Language (Hausa, Yoruba)
