Job Title: Senior Financial Manager / Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Location: Kano, Nigeria
Position Summary:
We are looking for an experienced Senior Financial Manager / Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to oversee the company’s financial planning, risk management, and long-term fiscal strategy. The ideal candidate will bring executive leadership, deep financial acumen, regulatory knowledge, and a strong record of success in both strategic and operational finance roles.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Financial Leadership
- Lead the development and execution of the company’s financial strategy in alignment with business goals.
- Provide executive management with timely and accurate financial reports, forecasts, and recommendations.
- Oversee budgeting, cash flow management, capital allocation, and fundraising initiatives.
Financial Operations & Control
- Supervise accounting, treasury, payroll, tax, audit, and procurement functions.
- Ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with IFRS, tax regulations, and company policies.
- Implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and prevent financial irregularities.
Performance & Risk Management
- Conduct financial risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies.
- Analyze financial data to drive profitability, cost optimization, and efficiency across departments.
- Monitor KPIs and performance indicators to support evidence-based decision-making.
Investor & Stakeholder Engagement
- Interface with banks, donors, investors, and regulatory agencies on financial matters.
- Support grant reporting and financial compliance for development-funded projects.
- Lead due diligence and reporting efforts during audits, mergers, or capital injections.
Team Management & Development
- Lead and mentor the finance and accounting teams, promoting a high-performance culture.
- Provide capacity-building and oversight to strengthen financial literacy across departments.
- Foster accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement in financial systems.
Qualifications & Experience:
Educational Background:
- MBA in Finance, Accounting, or related field (required)
- Chartered Accountant (ACA, ACCA, ICAN) certification (required)
- PhD in Finance or related field (added advantage)
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive financial leadership, with at least 3 years in a senior management or CFO role
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards, tax laws, budgeting, and compliance
- Demonstrated success in corporate finance, grant management, and strategic planning
- Experience working with agribusiness or donor-funded projects is highly desirable
Skills:
- Exceptional leadership, negotiation, and analytical skills
- High integrity, sound judgment, and stakeholder management abilities
- Proficiency in financial software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, SAP) and Microsoft Excel
