Background
Concern for Women and Children Development Foundation (COWACDI) is a woman- led organization born out of passion for the wellbeing of Women and Children in Nigeria. It has a special interest in mitigating the suffering of the vulnerable persons (mostly Women & Children) in times of crisis. Currently the organization has focused its attention on the Northeast of Nigeria with special emphasis in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states (the BAY states) due to the decade old crises. COWACDI intervenes through community-based approach in addressing Gender-Based Violence prevention and response programmes, child protection, peace-building programmes and empowerment of youth and women. Since its establishment in 2005, humanitarian and developmental interventions have been implementing in Protection, Peace Building, Housing Land & Property (HLP), Non-food Items (NFI), Livelihood. COWACDI operates with full respect for humanitarian law and works with concrete policies and principles of international standard such as humanity, do no harm, impartiality, neutrality and independence and accountability to affected population and Zero Tolerance to Fraud.
We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: MEAL Assistant
Qualification: B.Sc. /HND

Overall purpose of the role:
The Communication/M&E assistant will be assisting in the implementation of Project activities in Yobe State, He/she will oversee protection mainstreaming in all activities being implemented by the project.
• Provides administrative or technical support within project area
he/she will ensure quality of project implementation.
Core Functions / Responsibilities
- Use data collection tools to gather qualitative and quantitative data at different levels (facility and community).
- Support the MEAL department in the development of databases for all programs by using available technologies.
- Implement the basic monitoring and evaluation concepts and system for the purpose of MEAL activities.
- Implement field-level MEAL activities according to the MEAL work plan and support M&E activities, such as physical verification of assets, post-distribution monitoring, data quality audits, surveys/assessments, etc.
- Ensure data entry using an electronic database.
- Conduct on-site routine data quality audits at different field site/office levels
- Apply the concept of random sampling’ following instructions/guidelines of a manager while conducting any community-level survey.
- Apply the ‘spin-the-bottle’ method used for the selection of households in population-based surveys.
- Implement probability and non-probability sampling techniques such as and when appropriate after consulting with the manager.
- Conduct qualitative data collection activities and review data from the field for deficiencies or errors and correct any incompatibility if possible.
- Regularly perform data cleaning and data integrity and ensure data quality.
- Perform data entry using statistical software, under guidance and supervision.
- Translate qualitative data from mission language to English and back.
- Apply and use basic data visualization skills (use of tables and graphs to represent data and information) for data presentation.
- Promote internal learning by sharing timely feedback from and to the field.
- Support the program/project in documenting the lessons learned.
- Adhere to key concepts and commitments regarding accountability to affected populations (AAP), including IASC CAAP, CHS, and Sphere Humanitarian Charter.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- As applicable to this position, an individual must promote and encourage a culture of compliance and ethics throughout the organization and maintain a clear understanding of the Justice Development and Peace Commission in Maiduguri Diocese and donor compliance and ethics standards and adhere to those standards.

- Must be able to read, write and speak fluent English.
Other:
- An appointment will be subject to certification that the candidate is medically fit for appointment, confirmation of all documents, and security clearances.
- The appointment is subject to funding confirmation.

Educational Qualification & Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or its Equivalent preferably in social sciences, international development, economics, statistics or a related field from an accredited academic institution with one year of relevant professional experience.
- Prior work experience in a non-governmental organization (NGO) preferred.
- Strong understanding of human rights principles and international humanitarian law.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Language required:
Fluency in oral and written English is required. Hausa and Native Language of the area would be an added advantage.
