About the Global Carbon Markets (GCM) Project

The GCM project supports public and private stakeholders in leveraging market-based instruments to achieve their climate objectives. It provides capacity building, research, and pilot programs to strengthen the implementation of the Paris Agreement, with a focus on cooperative approaches under Article 6. The project operates in regions including Eastern Africa, the Caribbean, and Southeast Asia, helping countries align their climate policies with global standards.

Your Responsibilities

As a GCM intern, you will:

  • Conduct research and synthesize information on topics such as international climate policy, digitalization, and market-based climate solutions under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement.
  • Assist in organizing and executing international conferences, workshops, and online events, including capacity-building initiatives.
  • Support project management tasks, including meeting coordination, minute-taking, and knowledge management system development.
  • Develop and refine public relations materials, including presentations and communication content.

Your Profile

To thrive in this role, you should possess:

  • Educational Background: Enrolled in or recently graduated (within six months) from a program in environmental, political, social, or economic sciences or related fields.
  • Knowledge: Foundational understanding of international climate policy, climate negotiations, and the Paris Agreement. Familiarity with environmental economics, carbon pricing, or digitalization is an advantage.
  • Experience: Prior exposure to international cooperation or event planning is preferred. Experience in developing or emerging countries is a plus.
  • abilities, proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), and familiarity with virtual communication platforms.
  • Language Proficiency: Fluency in English (German skills are beneficial).
