Job Title: Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) Officer

Location: Maiduguri,Borno

Reporting to: MEAL Manager
Proposed start date: May 2026

Key Responsibilities:

Objective 1: Coordinate Data Collection, Data Quality Management, Analysis and State Level Reporting

  • Participate in the design of programme Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning tools (registers, reporting templates, data bases, etc.) to track FSL, Health and Nutrition, and WASH sectors/projects.
  • In collaboration with various sector stakeholders and relevant ACF staff, ensure timely data collection, compilation, and reporting according to the programme MEAL plan.
  • Conduct monthly data analysis and prepare monthly programme monitoring reports.
  • Ensure the programme database is updated regularly.
  • Support programme feedback meetings to communities, facilities, and authorities.
  • Support the MEAL Manager to implement the DQA system, including the conduct of data quality assessments according to the MEAL plan.
  • Support the MEAL Manager in data management for assessments, analysis, surveys, evaluations, and other research as required.
  • Plan, forecast, and facilitate the production and supply of MEAL tools and materials to supported sites.

Objective 2: Support Programme Supervision, Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning

  • Support the MEAL Manager to monitor FSL, Health and Nutrition, and WASH sectors/projects across all target communities and communicate findings and progress to Program Managers.
  • Participate in the evaluation of FSL, Health and Nutrition, and WASH sectors/projects, focusing on data management of evaluation datasets.
  • Support the dissemination and use of evaluation and research reports and propose changes for improvement to the FSL, Health and Nutrition and WASH sectors/projects Team.

Objective 3: Support Documentation, Reporting, Knowledge Sharing and Effective Feedback Mechanism

  • Support coordination of FSL, Health and Nutrition, and WASH sectors/projects monthly, quarterly, biannual and annual reviews and reports as required.
  • Participate in the dissemination of program information to communities, beneficiaries, and other stakeholders through a regular feedback mechanism.
  • Support the management of the beneficiary complaints and feedback mechanism database.
  • Update shared drive and project team space with program monitoring documents regularly.

Position Requirements:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Rural Development, Business, Administration, statistics, demography, or related subject, with previous experience working in humanitarian projects.
  • 2-3 years of previous experience with local or international NGOs.
  • Previous experience with FSL, WASH, and Health and Nutrition projects.
  • Proficiency in the use of MS Excel or other statistical packages. E.g SPSS, STATA, ODK.
  • Fluency in English, Hausa, and Kanuri.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including report writing.
  • Ability to work effectively with teams, government institutions, and development partners.
  • Demonstrated independence, adaptability, and flexibility in dynamic work environments.
