SUSTAIN Agribusiness Training Programme 2026

The Strengthening Underlying Systems and TVETs for Agribusiness Innovation in Nigeria (SUSTAIN) Project is providing Nigerians with an opportunity to build practical agribusiness skills through a structured three-level training pathway.

The programme is designed to address skills and employment challenges within Nigeria’s growing agribusiness sector by providing industry-relevant training, professional development, employment support and entrepreneurship opportunities.

Led by Sydani under the Team Europe Initiative Opportunity-driven Skills and Vocational Education and Training in Africa (TEI OP-VET) programme, SUSTAIN focuses on strengthening Agricultural Technical and Vocational Education and Training (ATVET) while helping participants develop skills that can translate into employment and business opportunities.

SUSTAIN Agribusiness Training Programme 2026

The SUSTAIN Project offers Continuous Professional Development (CPD) courses that progressively take participants from foundational agribusiness knowledge to specialised career skills and, ultimately, entrepreneurship.

The programme is divided into three levels:

• Level 1: Agribusiness Generalist
• Level 2: Specialised Agribusiness Skills
• Level 3: Entrepreneurship and Investment

Participants can therefore progress through a structured learning pathway depending on their career goals and previous training.

Level 1: Become an Agribusiness Generalist

Level 1 is designed for individuals who want to build a strong foundation in agribusiness.

The training introduces participants to important concepts and practical tools needed to understand how the agribusiness sector operates.

Key areas include:

• Agribusiness Management Principles
• Value Chain Analysis and Development
• Gender and Social Inclusion
• Digital Agribusiness Tools and E-Commerce

The programme provides an entry point for people interested in developing careers in agriculture, agribusiness, entrepreneurship and related sectors.

What Level 1 Offers

Participants receive:

• Fixed three-month self-paced learning
• A certificate upon completion
• Job placement support
• Access to the programme for all interested applicants

Applicants can register for Level 1 regardless of their previous agribusiness experience, making it suitable for individuals seeking to enter or transition into the sector.

Level 2: Develop Specialised Agribusiness Skills

After completing Level 1, participants can progress to Level 2 to develop deeper expertise in a specific occupation or career track.

Unlike Level 1, this stage uses a hybrid learning format, combining different approaches to practical and specialised training.

The programme is delivered through a fixed three-month cohort. Agribusiness Digital Systems and Data Analytics will be among the areas launching the specialised training, while other courses will be developed around identified employment and industry skills gaps.

Level 2 is designed to strengthen participants’ employability by combining specialised knowledge with practical skills relevant to real-world agribusiness opportunities.

What Level 2 Offers

Participants receive:

• Hybrid learning delivery
• A fixed three-month cohort
• A certificate upon successful completion
• Job placement support
• Access for Level 1 graduates or applicants with equivalent qualifications

This level may be particularly valuable for participants who already have foundational knowledge and want to position themselves for more specialised roles in the agribusiness sector.

Level 3: Build a Business and Access Grant Opportunities

Level 3 provides an entrepreneurship-focused pathway for participants who want to turn their agribusiness knowledge into a viable business.

The programme lasts three months and is delivered fully in person.

Participants will receive practical support through activities such as business plan clinics, costing and pricing exercises, mock negotiations with suppliers and buyers, and hands-on work to establish or strengthen a micro-enterprise.

Training areas include Agribusiness Innovation & Investment Pitching and Practice of Entrepreneurship I.

The goal is to help participants develop stronger business models, improve their ventures and prepare for the start-up grant pathway.

What Level 3 Offers

Successful participants can receive:

• Fully onsite entrepreneurship-focused training
• A fixed three-month cohort
• A certificate upon completion
• A soft grant upon certification
• Practical entrepreneurship development
• Access for Level 2 graduates or those with equivalent qualifications

Spaces at this level are limited, making it important for eligible participants to register and progress through the programme as required.
