Job Title: Material Planner
Location: SSC P-Numan, Adamawa
Job Summary
- Responsible for ensuring that the necessary materials, components, and other consumables are available in the right quantities, at the right time, and at the best cost to meet production schedules and internal customer demand.
- Analyse material usage trends and forecast future material requirements.
- Monitor inventory levels to ensure optimal stock availability, conducting regular cycle counts and audits.
- Collaborate with procurement, production, and logistic teams to avoid material shortages or overstock.
- Identify opportunities to enhance supply chain efficiency and reduce material costs.
- Maintain the GOLDLOCKS levels of inventory – enough to avoid shortages, but not so much that it ties up capital (Minimizing holding cost and obsolescence)
- Align supply with production schedules.
- Coordinate with suppliers to ensure quality on – time delivery and responsiveness to change.
- Material Requirement Planning (MRP) Reviewing and analysing MRP exception messages, releasing expediting or de- expediting purchase orders.
- Inventory Control: Setting safety stock levels, reorder points and maintaining ABS classification for inventory.
- Demand Forecasting: By analysing historical data and user demand patterns to predict future material needs.
Educational Qualification and Work Experience
- Minimum of HND or B.Sc. in Social Science or Engineering related courses.
- Any relevant professional certification is an added advantage
- 5-7 Years hands-on experience in material management in the manufacturing industry. Proficiency in ERP (SAP) Excel, Power Point and Microsoft word.
