The American Pakistan Foundation (APF) empowers the Pakistani-American community through leadership development, youth engagement, civic participation, while building enduring bridges between the people of the United States and Pakistan.

The American Pakistan Foundation (APF) is seeking a highly organized and proactive Program Assistant to support the organization’s day-to-day operations and programmatic activities. This role will work closely with the Director of Operations to ensure smooth administrative coordination across APF initiatives, including community engagement, mentorship programs, and podcast outreach.

This position is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, communicative, and comfortable managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced nonprofit environment.

Position Overview:

The Program Assistant will oversee the strategic design, implementation, and evaluation of APF’s core initiatives, including youth fellowships, leadership development programs, civic engagement campaigns, and cross-cultural partnerships. This individual will collaborate closely with APF’s leadership, Board of Directors, and Leadership Council to ensure successful execution of mission-aligned programs that strengthen APF’s impact within the Pakistani-American community.

Location: Remote (U.S), with in-person events occasionally. NYC and DMV strongly preferred
Type: Part-time, 10-15 hrs/wk
Compensation: $20/hr

Key Responsibilities:

Program Design & Management:

  • Lead the management and execution of APF’s core programs (Fellowships, Leadership Council, Civic Engagement, Community Service, etc).
  • Manage program timelines, deliverables, recruitment, and budgets.
  • Maintain and expand current programs (Rising Stars, GOTV, APF One, Fellowships, UN Initiative, Heritage Week)
  • Develop program materials, toolkits, KPIs, and evaluations.

Stakeholder & Community Engagement:

  • Cultivate relationships with community partners, educational institutions, youth organizations, and civic bodies.
  • Coordinate with guest speakers, mentors, and program alumni.
  • Represent APF in public forums, conferences, and networking events.

Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting:

  • Track program performance through surveys, feedback tools, and impact metrics.
  • Draft quarterly reports and presentations for the Board and donors.
  • Recommend improvements based on data-driven insights.

Administrative & Operational Support

  • Assist with day-to-day administrative tasks to support organizational operations.
  • Manage calendars, schedule meetings, and coordinate logistics including sending invitations, reminders, and follow-ups.
  • Prepare meeting agendas, take notes when required, and assist with documentation of action items.
  • Organize and maintain digital files, records, and internal documents.
  • Support the Director of Operations with administrative coordination and logistical planning.
  • Help track ongoing projects, deadlines, and action items to ensure timely completion.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, Nonprofit Management, International Affairs, Education, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 1–3 years of experience in nonprofit program management or community development.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Familiarity with the Pakistani-American diaspora, South Asia policy, or cultural diplomacy is a plus.
  • Proficiency in tools like Google Workspace, Zoom, Canva, and social media platforms.
  • This position is only open to U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
