Job Title: Channel Development Manager

Location: UK, Poland, Romania or Nigeria

 

Role purpose

  • The Channel Development Manager will help grow adoption and revenue for the Work/Online portfolio by making sure sales colleagues have the insight, tools and commercial guidance they need to position our solutions confidently. Acting as the link between Proposition, Sales, Marketing and Network teams, you will translate customer and market feedback into sharper value propositions, stronger sales enablement and clearer routes to growth.
  • The role enables internal sales channels, including the B2O team and colleagues across the Network, with the insight, tools, commercial guidance and sales enablement support needed to confidently position and sell our solutions. The role also captures market, customer and partner feedback to inform proposition development, pricing strategies and future growth opportunities.
  • You will join the Work/Online Proposition team at a time when the British Council is scaling digital English learning and assessment solutions for employers, governments and partners around the world. Our products help private and public sector organisations address recruitment screening, L&D, career progression, talent management, leadership development, employability and CSR goals.The team brings together customer insight, proposition and product development and commercial delivery, making sure our solutions are market-ready, clearly positioned and supported by the sales tools needed to win and grow business.
  • The Proposition team is part of English and Exams, whichenables people across the world to access the life-changing education and work opportunities that are created by learning English or gaining valuable UK qualifications. Promoting the English language also provides a medium for communication, helping break down barriers of misunderstanding or mistrust between cultures. The British Council’s vision for English is to be the world authority in high quality English language teaching, learning and assessment.
  • In this role, you will help turn proposition strategy into practical commercial delivery. This includes supporting go-to-market planning, building sales enablement materials, contributing to bids and partner opportunities, and using feedback from customers, partners and sales teams to improve market fit and commercial performance.

Main accountabilities
Relationship and stakeholder management 

  •   Build strong relationships with Sales, Network and key internal stakeholders to support commercial growth and market adoption.
  •  Act as a trusted partner to colleagues across Proposition, Sales and Marketing, ensuring a consistent and customer-focused approach to market engagement.

Planning 
·

  •    Support the development and delivery of go-to-market plans for priority markets, using customer insight, sales feedback and market intelligence to identify growth opportunities.

Business development

  •     Provide proposition expertise to support high-quality bids, tenders and customer proposals.

  • Work with Sales and Marketing teams to develop commercially compelling offers, pricing approaches and value propositions.
    ·
  •      Support partner engagement and agreement development, helping to identify opportunities for growth and expansion.
    Brand and market positioning
    ·
  •    Monitor market trends, customer needs and competitor activity to identify opportunities to strengthen market position and commercial performance.
    ·
  •    Gather and synthesise customer, partner and sales feedback to improve propositions, market fit and sales effectiveness.
  • ·      Collaborate with Proposition, Product, Sales and Marketing teams to ensure clear and consistent customer messaging.
  • ·      Contribute to the development of sales enablement and marketing materials that support market adoption and business growth.
    Risk and compliance 
  • •    Identify and escalate commercial, operational and partner-related risks, supporting appropriate mitigation in line with British Council policies and frameworks.
  • •    Use customer and partner feedback to support continuous improvement and service quality.

Role specific skills
Essential:

  • •    Ability to analyse customer, market and sales data and turn insight into practical recommendations, sales enablement materials and go-to-market activity.
    Desirable: 
  • •    Confidence using digital tools, including GenAI and design or content creation tools such as Canva, to produce clear, engaging sales enablement and stakeholder materials.

Role specific knowledge and experience
Minimum/essential
·      Experience building and managing stakeholder relationships across multiple functions.
·      Experience using customer and market insight to improve products, services or propositions.
·      Experience working in a global or matrix organisation.
·      Experience supporting bids, tenders, proposals or commercial pricing activities.
Desirable
·      Experience working with clients and partners, especially in the corporate sector
·      Knowledge of the British Council E&E product portfolio
·      Demonstrable experience of creating a successful engagement strategy for a client group globally
·      Experience of working in online learning / assessment or SaaS, in an Agile environment

Language Requirements
The British Council systems and global processes operate in English. Written and verbal proficiency in English is required.

Contract: Indefinite Contract, local

Salary ranges:

Poland: 16 300 – 21 700 PLN gross per month, remote work pattern, additional benefits available as per country

Romania: 19,000 – 24,350 RON gross per month, hybrid work pattern, additional benefits available as per country

UK: £40,179 – £47,418 gross per year, hybrid work pattern, additional benefits available as per country

Nigeria: 40,450,236 – 45,385.341 NGN gross per year, hybrid work pattern, additional benefits available as per country

Individual offer will be based on interview performance and overall suitability for the role.
