We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Visa Assistant (Team Lead)

Work Schedule: Full-time – 40 hours per week
Summary
- The U.S. Consulate General Lagos, Nigeria is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for Visa Assistant (Team Lead) position in the Consular Section.
Duties
- Position supervises, monitors, and trains a team of six to eight Locally Employed Staff (LE Staff) in the task of processing the full range of non-immigrant and immigrant visas for Nigerian citizens and third-country nationals.
- Refers only unusual, complex, or questionable cases to the LE Staff Supervisory Visa Assistant or Consular Officer. Employee leads one of four rotating Visa Unit teams, who share duties over the course of the year.
Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, International Relations, Literature in English, Law, Humanities or related fields is required. NYSC Certificate or Exemption letter is required.
Experience:
- Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible work experience in the application of regulatory material and in public contact work is required.
Job Knowledge:
- Must have detailed knowledge of U.S. immigration laws, regulations and procedures, and the Unit’s standard operating procedures and Departmental guidance relating to correspondence on complex visa issues.
- Must have a complete understanding of all computer based NIV and IV programs.
- Ability to understand general procedures and documents and effectively apply them to relevant contexts and explain such information clearly to other individuals.
Skills And Abilities:
- Ability to make use of Microsoft office packages like MS Word, Outlook and Excel. Ability to draft correspondence in level IV English; must be able to interpret and discuss in at least one local language. Requires tact and judgment in dealing with the public.
- Must be able to maintain appropriate confidentiality and to preserve the integrity of the consular system.
- Must be able to withstand external pressure from persistent applicants and petitioners.
- Must be able to work under pressure and prioritize work to suit team needs.
Salary
USD $25,357 /Per Year.
