OHDI – One Health Communications Internship Programme 2026


One Health and Development Initiative (OHDI) is pleased to announce the call for applications for its One Health Communications Internship Programme, a six-month opportunity designed to equip emerging communications professionals with practical experience in development communications, science communication, One Health risk communication and public engagement.
OHDI is a leading non-profit organization advancing One Health through research, policy, innovation, capacity strengthening, and program implementation. Our work spans across antimicrobial resistance, animal welfare, sustainable food systems, health security, environmental conservation, and related areas. To achieve our organisational goals in these areas, we also manage several flagship programmes, platforms and tools.
The internship offers early-career professionals the opportunity to contribute to real-world communication projects while working alongside experienced professionals across OHDI’s diverse programmes and platforms.
Internship Tracks
Successful applicants will be assigned to one of the following specialist communication tracks based on their interests, skills, and organizational needs:
- Social Media & Community Management: Support the planning, scheduling, and management of social media platforms, engage online communities, monitor trends, track analytics, and contribute to audience growth strategies.
- Content Development & Science Communication: Develop compelling written content, including social media captions, website articles, blogs, newsletters, interviews, success stories, and other communication materials that translate complex technical information into engaging content.
- Graphic Design & Visual Communications: Design high-quality visual content, including social media graphics, infographics, reports, presentations, event materials, brand templates, and digital campaigns.
- Multimedia & Digital Storytelling: Produce photography, videography, reels, podcasts, event coverage, documentaries, and other multimedia content while supporting video editing and digital storytelling initiatives.
- Digital Communications & Website Management: Support website content updates, email campaigns, digital resource management, newsletter production, SEO optimization, analytics reporting, and digital asset organization.
What You Will Do
Regardless of their assigned specialization, interns will:
- Support communication activities across OHDI and affiliated programmes.
- Participate in planning and strategy meetings, collaborate with multidisciplinary programme teams and support innovative communication ideas
- Engage in monthly capacity building sessions on development communications, science communication, One Health risk communication and public engagement.
Who Should Apply?
We encourage applications from students, recent graduates, and early-career professionals who are passionate about communications for development and social impact.
Applicants should:
- Hold or be pursuing a degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Health, Veterinary Medicine, Agriculture, Graphic Design, Multimedia, Marketing, International Development, or a related field.
- Demonstrate a strong interest in digital communications and storytelling.
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Be creative, proactive, organized, and willing to learn.
- Have experience and/or interest in social media management, graphic design, photography, videography, or content creation.
Applicants with experience using tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, CapCut, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, social media management platforms, and AI productivity tools are encouraged to apply.
