AboutEvidence Based Solutions-EBS

Let us introduce you to our new company, what we do and how we do it. EB Consulting  Pty Ltd (aka Evidence Based Solutions-EBS) was founded and led by President and CEO, Dr Olive Shisana (honorary Professor) at the helm, who for more 30 years worked at the interface between research and policy in the United States, Switzerland and South Africa. We provide public health solutions derived from research and technology.

We established EBS in 2015 as a  private company located in Cape Town, South Africa with a satellite office in Atlanta, GA, USA.  The two of us, Dr Shisana and Ms Nkateko Okwera, own this company.  What motivated us to start it is the realisation that too many programme planners design public health programmes based on a “gut feeling” about their appropriateness to solve particular problems, not on evidence generated from scientific investigation(s).  Consequently, they lose opportunities to make a significant impact to reduce disease burden. Often financial resources are wasted implementing ineffective interventions.
