Title:Transcribers
LOCATION: Abuja, Nigeria (Hybrid)
JOB TYPE:Contract/Ad hoc
We are seeking Transcribers who will be responsible for accurately converting audio-recorded interviews and focus group discussions from the baseline assessment into written text. He/ She will ensure transcripts are verbatim, well-organized, and ready for analysis.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Listen to audio recordings and produce verbatim transcripts in the original language(s)
- Translate transcripts into English where applicable, preserving meaning and context
- Ensure transcripts are clear, well-formatted, and free of errors
- Annotate non-verbal cues (e.g., pauses, laughter, emotions) where relevant
- Maintain confidentiality and data security at all times
- Meet agreed deadlines for transcript submission
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of a Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE); higher education preferred
- Proven experience in transcription, preferably for research or academic purposes
- Excellent listening and typing skills with high accuracy
- Proficiency in English and at least one local language (e.g., Hausa, Fulfulde)
- Access to a reliable computer and headphones
- Strong attention to detail and ability to concentrate for long periods
- Familiarity with qualitative research concepts is an added advantage
