About Malteser International

Malteser International has been working in Nigeria since 2017. In Northeast Nigeria and more specifically in Borno State, MI is currently active in the WASH sector for improving the lives of both the IDP population as well as the host communities. The WASH activities focus on improved access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene. They include NFI distribution, solarization of boreholes, rehabilitation of hand pumps, construction of latrines and hygiene promotion. Malteser International thereby applies a participatory, gender sensitive and inclusive approach.

 

Tittle:Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) Officer

Location;Maiduguri, Borno State

 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead baseline, endline, and routine monitoring activities aligned with NHF requirements
  • Manage digital data collection and reporting systems (e.g., KoboToolbox)
  • Conduct data quality checks, analysis, and reporting
  • Support and train National Nongovernmental Organizations (NNGOs) on MEAL systems, indicators, and reporting
  • Coordinate joint monitoring visits and learning reviews, and document lessons learned and best practices to support adaptive programming
  • Strengthen Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP) and community feedback mechanisms
  • Integrate gender, disability inclusion, protection, and PSEAH indicators into MEAL systems

Qualification and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Economics, Public Health, or a related field
  • Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in MEAL roles within humanitarian or development programs
  • Demonstrated experience conducting baseline and endline surveys
  • Strong experience in MEAL capacity strengthening of partner organizations
  • Experience working with CBPF/NHF, or similar donors, is an advantage
  • Prior experience in northeast Nigeria or humanitarian settings is highly desirable
