Position Summary

MSI Nigeria Reproductive Choices is seeking a highly capable Project Manager to lead implementation of a Hormonal Intrauterine Device (HIUD) project funded by the Gates Foundation. Reporting to the Director of Projects, the role is responsible for translating strategy into high-quality, results-driven implementation that expands equitable access to HIUD services. The role requires strong technical expertise in family planning, grant management, stakeholder engagement, and adaptive project leadership in low- and middle-income country contexts.

Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership and Results Delivery (Results Orientation & Accountability)

  • Lead the design and operationalization of the HIUD project workplan in alignment with MSI strategy and Gates Foundation grant objectives.
  • Translate grant deliverables into clear, time-bound implementation plans, ensuring alignment with national family planning priorities and MSI global standards.
  • Contribute to the refinement of HIUD introduction and scale-up strategies, including demand generation, service delivery, and sustainability approaches

Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (Results Orientation & Learning Mindset)

  • Ensure effective use of monitoring, evaluation, and learning systems to track progress, assess performance, and inform adaptive project management.
  • Use data and learning insights to drive decisions, improve project quality, and demonstrate impact to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support documentation and dissemination of lessons learned, and best practices related to HIUD introduction and scale-up.

Donor Management and Compliance (Accountability & Professionalism)

  • Ensure full compliance with Gates Foundation grant requirements, MSI policies, and financial and reporting standards.
  • Lead the preparation of high-quality donor reports, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and timely submission.
  • Support donor engagement, reviews, and audits, representing MSI with professionalism and credibility.
  • Partnership and Stakeholder Engagement (Collaboration & Influencing)
  • Build and sustain strong partnerships with Ministries of Health, donors, technical partners, and implementing organizations to support HIUD integration and scale-up.
  • Actively contribute to national and global family planning forums, technical working groups, and partner coordination platforms.
  • Foster a collaborative working environment across MSI teams, encouraging shared ownership and collective problem-solving.

Safeguarding, Risk, and Quality Assurance (Integrity & Accountability)

  • Ensure all project activities comply with MSI safeguarding, PSEAH, and ethical standards.
  • Identify and manage programmatic, operational, and reputational risks, escalating issues appropriately, and implementing mitigation strategies.
  • Uphold MSI’s commitment to quality, equity, and respect in all engagements with clients, partners, and colleagues.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, Medicine, Nursing, International Development, or a related field; master’s degree (MPH, MSc, or equivalent) preferred.
  • Minimum of 7–10 years’ experience in public health or development programming, with significant experience in family planning or SRHR projects.
  • Proven experience managing large, donor-funded grants, preferably with the Gates Foundation or similar institutional donors.
  • Strong technical knowledge of long-acting reversible contraceptives (LARCs), particularly IUDs.
  • Experience working with NGOs, governments, and partners in low- and middle-income country settings.
