Job Title: Optometrist

About the role
- Provides optometric assessment and management of patients, delivering eye-care services and contributing to the effective running of the service.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive eye examinations and assess visual function.
- Diagnose and manage refractive and common ocular conditions, and refer appropriately.
- Prescribe and oversee optical and therapeutic management within scope of practice.
- Maintain accurate clinical records.
Requirements
- Doctor of Optometry (OD) from a recognised institution.
- Completion of the required national internship and NYSC, or a valid exemption where applicable.
- Minimum of 1 year of post-registration/post-internship experience in the relevant profession; newly registered practitioners may be considered.
Required skills:
- Knowledge of optometric assessment and clinical eye care appropriate to the role.
- Ability to diagnose and manage refractive and common ocular conditions.
- Sound clinical record-keeping.
- Effective communication with patients and colleagues.
- Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
Nice to have:
- Postgraduate training in a clinical optometry specialty.
- Certification relevant to the area of practice.
- Membership of a recognised professional association.
