Job Title: Driver (Talent Pool)

Location: Abuja
Contract – 208 working hours per month./
Level: 03

Main Purpose

  • To maintain a pool of qualified and talented candidates for this position who may be employed as needed.
  • The role involves transporting authorized goods and passengers in compliance with MSF security regulations and national traffic laws, ensuring vehicle safety, reliability, and efficient service delivery.

Job Description

  • Checking daily, the technical conditions of the assigned vehicle (state of the tires, oil, fuel, brakes, radio equipment, spare parts, etc.), performing weekly check according to the MSF Logbook, refilling it when necessary, and keeping it clean to ensure it can be driven in perfect conditions.
  • Carrying out a hand over if another uses the vehicle
  • Ensuring the security of passengers in the vehicle, driving carefully, observing speed limits and traffic rules in the country as well as MSF security rules, in order to avoid car accidents.
  • Ensuring all passengers have all necessary papers in order before travelling, and ensuring non-MSF staff sign disclaimers of responsibility before using the vehicle
  • Ensuring correct loading and unloading of the vehicle, submitting the documents to the receiver of the goods, checking the status of delivered goods, returning the duly completed documents to
  • Logistics and ensuring that the goods have the necessary documents
  • Ensuring that all vehicle documents and the driver’s driving license are valid and in the vehicle.
  • Informing the line manager of any incident involving the transportation of passengers and/or goods.
  • Knowing how to use all types of radios, codes, call numbers and radio alphabets by heart and communicating with base according to MSF communications policy to inform the driver’s position and any potential implications.
  • Knowing and respecting the security rules related to vehicle movements, specifically those related to customs, checkpoints and roadblocks.
  • Comply with local security rules and ensure all passengers know and respect the security rules
  • Communicate very clearly and report the departure and arrival on time and consider it as security procedure.
  • Not allow any non-MSF to be in the car unless permitted by the line manager and fill the discharge of liability form. No non-MSF items allowed to be in the car.
  • To attend the briefing before any movement and the debriefing after coming back from movement and tells his observation during the trip.
  • Ensure MSF identification is visible in the car and staff used in the field movement
  • Ensure the communication tools in the car are functioning before any movement.
  • Ensure the car movement sheet is signed by staff/passenger who used the car.
  • Follow the drivers’ rosters and be earlier in the workplace to check the car, equipment, the first aidkit availability and ensure all is ok for the movement.
  • Report to the mechanic or the line manager for any abnormal issue with the car before movement.
  • Ensure the availability of security water and food in the car during field movement.
  • Follow the regular service A, B, C for the vehicle and inform in advance for the mechanic or the line manager for planning the service time

Requirements
Education

  • Secondary education, Valid driving license
  • Good knowledge of local roads in Abuja

Experience

  • Essential 2 years minimum of previous driving experience
  • Desirable experience with specific vehicles that is 4×4 Landcruiser
  • Desirable Experience with MSF or other INGOs
  • Language English and Hausa, Spoken and Written

Remuneration
As per MSF salary scale (National contract).
