We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Programme Good Governance Officer

Job Summary:

The Program Officer Good Governance and Peace Building support the design, coordination, and implementation of initiatives that promote accountable governance, civic participation, conflict prevention, and inclusive peacebuilding. The role focuses on strengthening democratic values, empowering citizens specially women and youth to actively participate in governance processes, and fostering peaceful coexistence within the community.

Key Responsibilities:

 Program Design and Implementation:

  • Support the planning, implementation, and monitoring of good governance and peacebuilding interventions in line with project goals and organizational strategy.
  • Facilitate civic education and democracy awareness programs that promote citizen participation, accountability, and transparency.
  • Collaborate with relevant departments and partners to organize workshops, capacity-building sessions, and community dialogues on governance and peace issues.
  • Ensure that gender equality, social inclusion, and conflict-sensitive principles are mainstreamed across all program activities

Stakeholder Engagement and Advocacy:

  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including community leaders, government representatives, civil society organizations, and media partners.
  • Support advocacy campaigns and community-led initiatives that promote inclusive governance and peace.
  • Facilitate community scorecard processes and other social accountability tools to strengthen citizen engagement and service delivery.

Research, Learning, and Reporting:

  • Collect and analyses data on governance and peacebuilding activities to inform program planning and decision-making.
  • Document lessons learned, best practices, case studies, and success stories for internal learning and external communication.
  • Prepare timely, high-quality activity reports, as well as monthly, quarterly, and annual project reports in line with donor and organizational requirements.
  • Participate in field monitoring visits and contribute to impact assessments and evaluations.

Resource Mobilization and Proposal Development:

  • Contribute to the development of concept notes, proposals, and budgets for governance and peacebuilding projects.
  • Participate in donor mapping, partnership development, and fundraising efforts that support program sustainability.

 Organizational Learning and Contribution:

  • Participate actively in program review and coordination meetings, sharing insights and technical inputs on governance and peacebuilding.
  • Stay abreast of emerging issues, national policies, and global trends related to governance, democracy, peace, and social inclusion.
  • Perform other relevant duties as assigned

Academic Qualifications

Education: University degree or HND in Political Science, Public Administration, Law, International Relations, Peace and Conflict Studies, Development Studies, Sociology Governance and Public Polic, Education or Social Science.

Relevant professional certification is an added advantage. e.g CPM, CIPFA

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years progressive working experience in Governance programming, peacebuilding within the NGO or developmental sector.
  • Experience In conducting Organizational Development and Implementing Organizational development plans will be an added advantage.
  • Experience of coordination and engagement with stakeholders at both community and government levels. Skills in advocacy essential
  • Ability to function in a team, especially field teams in a challenging environment
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal), cultural sensitivity, flexibility, ability to improvise, team player.
  •  fluency in English and Hausa languages
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational skills

Strong computer skills required (word and excel and PowerPoint).
