Location: Borno state
The selected candidate will supervise and trains field level nutrition staff, perform monitoring and support supervision of field activities, guide LGA partners on program planning and participate in staff capacity building. She/He coordinates the implementation of Severe Acute Malnutrition, Moderate Acute Malnutrition practices and other supportive Nutrition programs.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Implements a comprehensive maternal infant and young child nutrition program (MIYCN) Baby Friendly Community initiative (BFCI) approach.
- Provides technical support to CMAM and BSFP program component within the community including ensuring awareness sessions, screening, and tracking.
- Develops and supervise an effective mother-to-mother support group within the area of implementation.
- Trains and mentors, the emergency response program staff, and the integrated community health promoters through the identification of capacity gaps and carrying out refresher trainings and on the job trainings.
- Develop key messages in nutrition to the targeted beneficiaries and ensure it is delivered appropriately.
- Offers nutrition support through counseling to individuals with medical conditions including Comprehensive Care to clinic clients.
- Conducts and Supervises nutrition-specific value-adding activities (SBCC, Home gardening, food hygiene promotion etc.
- Implements a social behavioral change communication strategy at the community level.
- Plans and conduct mass MUAC screening of the under-fives on a quarterly basis in collaboration with the Community Health volunteers
- Compiles and submits donor and INTERSOS Nutrition Program weekly, biweekly and monthly reports of all the activities implemented, as well as prepare food requisitions.
- Liaises with Supply Chain Department in Program Supplies procurement and Monitoring Supply control.
- Supports MOH on DQAs- Data quality assessments.
- Supervises regular follow up and management of malnutrition cases at the OTP/SC
- Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

- Improved recovery rates and reduced mortality among SAM patients.
- Accurate and timely Weekly reports.
- Compliance with protocols and stock accountability
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Qualifications and Experience:
Education.
- BSc/Diploma in Nutrition, Nursing or related field of nutrition.
- Minimum 1-year relevant experience for BSc holder with recognized INGO
- Minimum 2-year two years related experience for Diploma holder with recognized INGO
- INTERSOS Nutrition experience is an added advantage.
- Must be in a position of a valid practicing license
- Understanding of community management of acute malnutrition
- Computer skills knowledge and applications especially MS Word and Excel
- Experience in planning and organizing activities in a variety of locations
- Proven capacity to supervise, train and coach local staff and community workers.
- Experience of providing hands-on in-service training
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and representational and communications skills are essential, and a team-oriented work style is a necessity.
- Excellent communication skills and a willingness to be respectful, kind, sensitive and empathize with children and their careers
- Willingness and capacity to be flexible and accommodating when faced with difficult and frustrating working conditions
- Strong report writing and computer skills
- Commitment to and understanding of INTERSOS’s aims, values and principles.
- Understanding of local language (Kanuri, Hausa Languages) and culture is mandatory.
- Understanding of English language (Listening, speaking, reading, writing).
