Associate Program Officer (Fully Remote) at Climate Resilience Fund

The Climate Resilience Fund (CRF), housed under Multiplier, is seeking an Associate Program Officer (APO) to help advance its mission of building equitable climate resilience. Since its founding in 2016, CRF has worked as a collaborative funding platform, mobilising resources and creating partnerships between philanthropy and U.S. federal agencies to address the pressing challenges of climate change. With initiatives spanning community resilience, wildfire response, and cross-sector collaboration, CRF is positioned at the forefront of climate adaptation and capacity building.
Advancing Climate Resilience
CRF’s mission is rooted in the recognition that climate change is already reshaping ecosystems and communities. Its strategies are designed to maximise impact by fostering collaboration, scaling solutions, and mobilising funding to meet the urgency of the crisis. At the heart of its work lies a commitment to two guiding principles: nature and equity. By centring these values, CRF ensures that resilience strategies not only protect the environment but also uplift the most vulnerable communities.
Three flagship initiatives define CRF’s current work. The Climate Smart Communities Initiative (CSCI), launched in 2023 in partnership with NOAA and five core organisations, supports at-risk communities in developing equitable resilience plans using the U.S. Climate Resilience Toolkit. This initiative aims to accelerate workforce development, reduce planning costs, and scale community-led resilience strategies.
The Wildfire Resilience Funders (WRF) network, created in 2022, convenes foundation leaders to address the escalating wildfire crisis across the western U.S. Through shared learning and collaboration, WRF advances solutions to one of the most visible climate threats today.
Together, these initiatives underscore CRF’s belief that resilience must be collaborative, data-driven, and deeply grounded in equity.
The Associate Program Officer Role
The new Associate Program Officer will play a pivotal role in operationalising CRF’s strategies, particularly within the Climate Smart Communities Initiative. Reporting to the Managing Director, the APO will contribute across program operations, communications, partnerships, and strategic development.
Key responsibilities include:
- Program Operations: Managing and tracking grants, monitoring outcomes, and supporting internal planning.
- Convenings and Partnerships: Coordinating with partners, advisory committees, and funders to deliver impactful convenings and events.
-
- Communications: Collaborating with the CSCI communications team to craft web content, press releases, newsletters, and social media posts tailored for diverse audiences, including policymakers, community leaders, and practitioners.
- Writing and Research: Preparing reports, blogs, presentations, and strategy papers that capture progress and share lessons learned.
- Networking: Engaging in professional networks to strengthen CRF’s role in advancing climate adaptation and resilience services.
- Fundraising Support: Assisting in donor communications, reporting, and preparation of fundraising materials.
The APO will be instrumental in tracking progress against program goals, ensuring partners remain informed, and communicating CRF’s impact to stakeholders.
The Ideal Candidate
The position calls for an individual with a strong background in climate adaptation, resilience, or environmental sciences. Ideal candidates will have experience in nonprofit management, philanthropy, or government agencies, along with expertise in project management and collaborative initiatives.
Strong communication skills are central to the role. The APO should be adept at telling compelling stories, writing for diverse audiences, and managing digital platforms. Familiarity with grants management or CRM systems will also be valuable. Just as important, the APO must be resourceful, highly organised, and able to balance multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment.
Personal attributes such as honesty, integrity, and a deep commitment to climate justice are non-negotiable. The candidate must embrace CRF’s values of nature and equity, while also upholding the organisation’s commitment to fostering a supportive, balanced workplace culture.
Compensation and Work Environment
The role is remote and offers a competitive annual salary between $80,000 and $100,000, along with comprehensive medical and dental benefits, retirement savings, and generous leave policies. The position is designed to support long-term professional development within a flexible and collaborative environment.
A Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion
Both CRF and Multiplier are deeply committed to equity and inclusion. They celebrate diversity and actively seek to build teams that represent a wide range of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills. Discrimination or harassment of any kind is prohibited, ensuring that staff and partners work in a culture of mutual respect.
Application Process
Applications for the Associate Program Officer role will be accepted until October 1, 2025. Candidates should submit an application form along with a résumé and cover letter detailing relevant experience and motivation for joining CRF’s mission.
Driving Climate Solutions Forward
The Associate Program Officer position represents more than just a professional opportunity—it is a chance to contribute directly to addressing the climate crisis at a systems level. By supporting CRF’s collaborative initiatives, the APO will help vulnerable communities adapt, strengthen resilience across ecosystems, and ensure that equity remains at the core of climate solutions.
In a world increasingly defined by climate risk, roles like this one are essential for advancing collective action and creating a more sustainable future.
