Across the world, over 130 million girls are out of school. In Nigeria, nearly 4 in 10 girls are married before 18, and women occupy just 15 of 423 parliamentary seats. These realities limit progress for girls and women everywhere.
That’s why Plan International Nigeria is inviting passionate girls aged 15–24 in Abuja and Lagos to apply for the GirlsTakeover 2025. This initiative will give girls the chance to step into high-level leadership spaces; including government offices, embassies, and international organisations, to raise their voices, challenge stereotypes, and advocate for real change.
Too often, girls are excluded from education, protection, and leadership simply because of their gender. That is why Plan International Nigeria, through its #StandWithGirls campaign, is marking the International Day of the Girl Child with the #GirlsTakeover initiative, empowering girls to step into leadership, challenge stereotypes, and inspire real change.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Applicants should:
✅Be a girl between 15-24 years old at the time of application
✅Be a Nigerian residing in Abuja or Lagos
✅Be interested in and committed to gender equality
✅Come from any background or ability; we especially encourage girls from rural and marginalised communities to apply
