Application is now Open: Dataphyte Biodiversity Reporting Fellowship


Are you a journalist reporting on the environment, including biodiversity issues? This opportunity is for you.
This fellowship is designed to train Nigerian journalists in data-driven reporting on biodiversity issues from species loss to harmful land-use practices, nature-based conservation solutions that support biodiversity and unintended harmful effects of conservation measures.
With rising threats to Nigeria’s ecosystems, there is an urgent need for compelling stories that place biodiversity at the center of environmental conversations.
Fellows will receive hands-on training, a reporting stipend, editorial support, and access to biodiversity data and biodiversity reporting toolkit to support impactful investigations.
Ten journalists will be selected to produce evidence-based stories that highlight key threats to biodiversity across Nigeria’s major biodiversity hotspots and other biodiversity-related issues.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Must be a Nigerian journalist (freelance journalists can apply), with at least three years of experience in reporting environmental and biodiversity-related stories
- Must submit a story pitch relevant to biodiversity and conservation in Nigeria
- Must have at least five (5) published articles on environmental, biodiversity, and climate-related stories(stories on biodiversity issues are preferred)
