Applications are now open for the EkoAI Academy 2026, a free artificial intelligence training programme designed to equip 10,000 young people in Lagos State with practical AI skills for employment, career growth and entrepreneurship.
The programme is an initiative of the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF), delivered through Lagos Innovates in partnership with InnoPower.
About EkoAI Academy
EkoAI Academy aims to make practical artificial intelligence skills accessible to young people across Lagos State.
The programme does not require participants to become programmers. Instead, it focuses on how participants can use existing AI tools to improve productivity, employability and business performance.
A key component of the training is prompt engineering, which teaches participants how to communicate effectively with AI tools using everyday language to generate useful results for work, business and other practical tasks.
Training Tracks
Participants can choose between two tracks based on their career or business goals.
1. Job Seeker Track
This track is designed for individuals who want to use AI to improve their employability and career prospects.
Participants will learn how to use AI for:
- Improving job applications
- Preparing professional documents
- Interview preparation
- Workplace productivity
- Developing digital capabilities
- Using AI effectively in professional environments
2. Entrepreneurship Track
This track is designed for aspiring entrepreneurs and business owners who want to use AI to start, manage or grow their businesses.
Participants will learn practical AI applications for:
- Business planning
- Understanding customers
- Marketing
- Content creation and communication
- Business operations
- Productivity
- Business growth
Applicants will select their preferred track during enrolment.
What Participants Will Learn
The Academy focuses on practical AI skills that participants can immediately apply in their personal, professional and business activities.
Training will include prompt engineering and practical applications of AI for employment, entrepreneurship and productivity.
No programming or coding experience is required.

Eligibility Requirements
To apply as a learner, applicants must:
- Be between 18 and 40 years old
- Be a resident of Lagos State
- Have at least an SSCE
- Have access to a smartphone or computer
- Have internet access
Applicants do not need:
- Coding experience
- Previous technology experience
- An AI or computer science background
- A university degree

How the Programme Works
EkoAI Academy will operate through 100 Certified Trainers.
The structure includes:
- Registration: Eligible Lagos residents complete the online enrolment process.
- Trainer Preparation: 100 Certified Trainers are selected and undergo advanced training.
- Community Training: Certified Trainers deliver AI training to learners across Lagos.
- Completion: Participants who complete the programme progress to the recognition and completion stage.
Each trainer is expected to guide approximately 100 learners, allowing the Academy to reach its target of 10,000 young Lagosians.
