MSF has been working in Nigeria since February 1996, in collaboration with national and local authorities, under a Memorandum of Understanding with the Federal Government of Nigeria.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
Perform clinical laboratory activities according to MSF protocols, security and hygiene measures in order to obtain results to determine the patient’s treatment.
MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES
- According to medical prescription, preparing and performing clinical exams/tests with appropriate techniques and following MSF protocols and This function includes, among others:
- Centrifuging blood and urine
- Performing laboratory exams (serology, hematology, biochemistry, bacteriology, or parasitological, according to the mission context).
- Ensuring proper reporting and registration of the sample results to keep a written track of activity and give information to the relevant persons, ensuring
- Taking care, managing, and organizing efficiently the laboratory material/equipment:
- Perform cleaning and minor maintenance for biomedical equipment Following the user manual and protocols and alerting the supervisor in case of malfunctioning
- Applying hygiene and safety protocols, doing daily cleaning /maintenance, sterilization, and washing general glassware after
- Ensuring proper sample waste disposal following MSF protocols and highest safety
- Supplying orders, doing stock, storage conditions follow-up, keep
- Keeping organized the data collection system of laboratory results and all information generated from the analysis
- Reporting all relevant information linked to the activity in the laboratory to the line manager, especially the loss/robbery/damage of laboratory equipment or
- Performing minor maintenance and cleaning of the biomedical equipment following the user manual and Alerting the supervisor in case of malfunctioning of any device.

| The Lab Tech is responsible for ensuring the Diagnostic Point-of care tests and the safety of Blood transfusions in the ITFC, Pediatric ward,and SRH at Talata Mafara Hospital: 1. Work closely with the hospital laboratory technicians to ensure smooth coordination of activities. 2. Collect, organize, and document referral samples according to protocols. 3. Ensure availability, proper storage, and maintenance of blood in the bank. 4. Perform screening and compatibility testing before transfusions, ensuring safe delivery to wards. 5. Issue blood in correct order based on expiry date and dispose of expired blood per IPC/WATSAN policy. 6. Conduct internal and external quality controls (IQC/EQC), interpret results, and maintain standards. 7. Perform scheduled maintenance of lab equipment, report issues, manage supplies, and track inventory. 8. Maintain organized records of laboratory results, report relevant information to the line manager, and adapt to program changes. 9. Perform any other task assigns by the supervisor. |
REQUIREMENTS
| Education | Essential Laboratory Technician diploma. |
| Experience | Minimum 2 years of working experience essential either with MSF or other NGOs. |
| Languages | Mission language desirable and local language essential. |
