We are  recruiting to fill the position below:

 Job Title: Environmental Health Supervisor

Location: Kebbi

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the Environmental Health Manager in the implementation and supervision of Environmental Health activities, including tools and materials employed according to MSF standards and protocols, in order to improve health and living conditions of the target population
  • Ensuring the day-to-day implementation and administration of assigned Environmental Health activities at project level, including but not limited to, water supply, excreta disposal, waste management, vector control, and dead bodies management
  • Ensuring that the MSF procedures and protocols are followed by the Environmental Health teams to guarantee the operational quality of the project.
  • Ensuring the maintenance and repair of technical equipment in the project to guarantee an adequate running of Environmental Health activities.
  • Ensuring the distribution of the materials and tools used in water treatment, hygiene and sanitation (e.g., physical organization and inventory of stocks, receiving and processing orders for water, sanitation and hygiene material, check that the amounts received are recorded, and check monthly consumptions, etc.).
  • Supporting the Environmental Health Manager in ensuring an appropriate emergency preparedness and response capacity (physical verification of stocks, contacts, transport means, staff training).
  • Ensuring appropriate assistance to the project response team and if required, participating in emergency activities or exploratory visits.
  • Supporting the Environmental Health Manager in the team planning (e.g., staff rosters and admin, HR processes, etc.) and informing and involving the Environmental Health Manager in case of any major management or technical issue and providing all required reporting.
  • Planning and supervising the HR processes (recruitment, training, performance evaluation, tasks definition and internal and external communication) of the staff under his/her responsibility in order to ensure both the sizing and the amount of knowledge required for the activity.
  • Participating in data collection and reporting as required.

MSF Section / Context Specific Accountabilities:

  • Implementing and strictly following up the schedule of maintenance of Environmental Health equipment (Dosatron, water dispenser,).
  • Develop and support in the design and construction of Environmental Health infrastructures in collaboration with logistics
  • Organizing and carries out “Insecticide Residual Spraying” (IRS) regularly with his/her team
  • Implementing other vector control measures, especially the rodents’ control in all MSF premises and guest houses.
  • Following the water treatment unit in Maiyama and anticipate in the order of all the necessary material to avoid rupture.
  • Supervising his team to ensure the proper use of the tools and recording: water treatment, waste management, vector control, etc
  • Organizing his team to adapt to the peak season and express the needs of additional HR if need be
  • Collaborating with other departments in accordance with the context: logistics, HP, IPC, sup.

Requirements
Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.Sc. or B.Tech.) or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Environmental Health Science, Public Health, Environmental Management, Environmental Science, or a related discipline from a recognized institution is essential.
  • Specialization in water and sanitation is desirable.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in environmental health, sanitation, waste management, or environmental compliance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Demonstrated technical experience in conducting water and Sanitation inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
  • Experience in technical works and organising of multiple activities, preferably within MSF or similar work environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Essential: Basic knowledge of Microsofot Outlook, Excel, Word, Powerpoint

Languages:

  • Essential: Local languages (Hausa, Fulani, Suru) and English
