Job Title: Communications and Advocacy Manager

About the Role:
- We’re seeking a creative, strategic, and experienced Communications and Advocacy Manager to lead our organization’s communications, advocacy, and visibility efforts.
- The Communications and Advocacy Manager will play a critical role in developing and implementing communication strategies, strengthening the organization’s public profile, amplifying advocacy messages, and ensuring effective engagement with key stakeholders, partners, media, and the wider public
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement the organization’s communications and advocacy strategy in alignment with its mission, goals, and programs.
- Lead the development of compelling content for social media, websites, newsletters, reports, press releases, campaigns, and other communication platforms.
- Develop and coordinate advocacy campaigns, public awareness initiatives, and strategic communications activities.
- Manage the organization’s social media platforms and strengthen digital engagement and visibility.
- Coordinate media engagement, including press releases, interviews, media briefings, and press events.
- Translate program outcomes, research, and organizational activities into compelling stories, advocacy messages, and communication materials.
- Provide communications support to program teams, ensuring consistent messaging and effective visibility of projects and initiatives.
- Develop communication materials, including advocacy briefs, talking points, presentations, newsletters, campaign materials, and success stories.
- Ensure consistent use of the organization’s brand, tone, messaging, and visual identity across communication channels.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree (minimum of second-class lower) in Communications, Mass Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Development Studies, Social Sciences, or any related field.
- Any relevant professional certification in Communications, Advocacy, Public Relations, or a related field is an added advantage.
Experience and Skills:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in communications, advocacy, public relations, media, or a related role, preferably within an NGO, development, humanitarian, or social impact organization.
- Demonstrated experience developing and implementing communications and advocacy strategies or campaigns.
- Experience in gender rights, women’s rights, human rights, SGBV, or other social impact campaigns is highly desirable.
- Strong writing, editing, storytelling, and content development skills.
- Excellent knowledge of social media platforms, digital communications, and content management tools.
- Strong media relations, stakeholder engagement, and advocacy skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and project management skills.
- Ability to translate complex issues into clear, compelling, and audience-appropriate messages.
- Strong creative thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, multi-cultural environment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant communications, graphic design, social media, or content management tools
