Description
- The Organization for Innovation in Public Health (OIPH, PATHβs local affiliate in Nigeria) is seeking a Finance Associate based in Abuja, Nigeria, to support the finance function of the Country program office.
- This role will report to the Finance Manager of the Nigeria Country Program. The role will support Accounts Payable management, accounting compliance, Reconciliations, financial data validation, staff financial training, and project support.
Responsibilities
- Ensure all accounts payable are treated in line withΒ PATH policy and project guidelines.
- Liaise with project teams to ensureΒ timelyΒ andΒ accurateΒ closureΒ of project payment requests.
- Check andΒ validateΒ payment requests and invoices, ensuringΒ appropriate supportingΒ documentation for the audit trail.
- PerformΒ accurateΒ data entry in the ERPΒ in accordance withΒ GAAP and PATH policy.
- Prepare paymentsΒ and ensureΒ accurateΒ bankingΒ entries.
- Perform assigned bank rolesΒ in alignment with PATH policy.
- Ensure financial transactions are recorded in line with PATH policy.
- Reconcile allΒ suppliersβΒ statementsΒ withΒ ERPΒ ledger balance records andΒ closeΒ any discrepancies.
- Review and approveΒ staff travelΒ expenditure reports and reconciliation.
- Perform monthly reconciliation ofΒ theΒ Accounts Payable ledger.
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations, including Mobile MoneyΒ transactions
- Perform month-end tasks as per the schedule of responsibilities provided by the Finance Manager.
- Support in audit, includingΒ preparing audit schedules and retrieving documents.
- Support staff trainingΒ onΒ accounting and finance manuals/policy.
- Provide ad hoc trainingΒ toΒ project teams on financial requirements.
- Liaise closely with the Abuja office Finance Officer.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in finance or related field
- Professional accountancy qualification (Certified Public Accountants – CPA, Association of Chartered Certified Accountants – ACCA, or equivalent membership of a recognized professional accountancy organization in good standing).
- A minimum of 5 years of experienceΒ inΒ a busyΒ NGOΒ finance department.Β Experience with USAID-funded projects will be an added advantage.
- Demonstrated experience with Enterprise Resource Planning software.
- Hands-onΒ experience in Business World software will be an added advantage.
- Ability to work effectively withΒ projectΒ teams
- Excellent interpersonalΒ andΒ communication skills.
- Professional level of oral and written fluency in English.
- Must have legal authorization to work inΒ Nigeria.
