I’m thrilled to announce the launch of the Llama Impact Accelerator program in Nigeria, a groundbreaking initiative by Meta in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation & Digital Economy. This program is set to empower early-stage startups in Nigeria to develop impactful AI solutions using open-source Llama models. Nigeria’s vibrant tech ecosystem and rich pool of AI talent make it the perfect environment for nurturing scalable, homegrown AI innovations. This 8-month program will focus on addressing key national challenges in Agriculture, Security & Safety, Healthcare, and more, through open innovation.

Are you a startup using Llama to build bold, transformative solutions for Nigeria?
Apply now to the Llama Impact Accelerator Program, focused on advancing impactful AI innovation in:
Agriculture (Livestock Innovation)
Security & Safety (Smart Cities, Environmental Safety, etc.)
Healthcare (Biogenetics, Diagnostics, Health Access)
Wild Card (for standout solutions beyond the core focus areas)
This accelerator offers 6 weeks of hands-on training, mentorship, and development support, led by experts. The program culminates in a Demo Day, where selected startups will pitch for a chance to receive up to $25,000 in equity-free funding.
After Demo Day, participants receive 6 months of tailored post-program support to help grow their solutions and gain access to other potential funding opportunities from Meta.
Eligibility countries
The program is currently open to participants from Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa, and Senegal. Each country has its own thematic focus areas aligned with local development priorities.
Benefits price
The winning teams from the Demo Day may be eligible for equity-free funding of up to $25,000 to support the development and deployment of their solutions.
