Position summary 

This role is for a motivated Knowledge Management Officer (KMO) to provide leadership for the development and implementation of a robust knowledge management strategy for the Faith and Cultural Champions (FCC) project. This role requires a deep understanding of how Faith and Cultural Champions operate and the unique contextual landscape in Kano. Demonstrated knowledge of the use of traditional and digital tools for capturing, sharing, and managing knowledge with internal and external stakeholders is key. Under the supervision of the Knowledge Management Manager and guidance of the Project Director, the KMO will be responsible for creating knowledge management products such as activity reports, learnings from the field, policy briefs, learning briefs, publications, and other content that demonstrates the thought leadership of the project in working with FCCs and disseminating the same on diverse platforms to internal and external stakeholders. Your emotional intelligence and proactive attitude will help you gain the trust of colleagues, and external parties as may be required. Exceptional communication and writing skills and experience in knowledge management are important qualities. This position works with the project RMEL and Communication officers to create and provide visibility around the project efforts and achievements, promote learning, and amplify the

 

Responsibilities

Knowledge Management Strategy

  • Responsible for drafting activity reports, learning briefs, policy briefs, and learnings from the field
  • Take ownership of all knowledge management and learning processes in the state of operation
  • Implement strategies to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in knowledge creation and dissemination processes
  • Work with the KM Manager and project staff to capture, synthesize, organize, and disseminate knowledge to enhance the effectiveness of programs and strengthen thought leadership, utilizing innovative tools and platforms
  • Take initiatives that enhance knowledge management outputs for the project
  • Support the development and management of archival systems and processes that assist staff to easily access and use data, learning, knowledge (internal and external), and evidence of impact to improve existing practices and to inform decision-making, planning, and implementation of activities.
  • Work with the project staff to ensure documentation and timely archiving of all resources including communication materials, success stories, photographs, reports, and databases
  • Provide support to project staff on data visualization and utilization
  • Generate knowledge management products that demonstrate learning
  • Coordinate the production cycle for knowledge management products, including print, audio-visual and digital versions
  • Develop and implement activity-specific documentation plans to harvest output for the development of knowledge management products
  • Facilitate experience sharing and knowledge acquisition through organizing learning events that promote knowledge diffusion and collaboration among internal and external stakeholders
  • Identify and support strategic knowledge dissemination and learning opportunities through conferences, publications, and other learning events.
  • Provide quality assurance of content disseminated through all knowledge management platforms
  • Facilitate training on the application of knowledge management approaches for effective knowledge sharing with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strengthen the capacity of project staff on knowledge creation, knowledge translation, and dissemination
  • Collaborate with the communications officers to communicate results to external stakeholders through public engagement platforms
  • Facilitate the development and management of a repository for storage of knowledge products.

Qualification

Essential Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • BSc in Communications, Knowledge Management, Information Management, Public Relations, Social Science, or a similar relevant field. Post Graduate Degree in Knowledge Management, Information Management, or its equivalent is an added advantage
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in knowledge management, organizational learning, or communications, preferably in the public health or NGO sector.
  • Strong understanding of the Northern Nigerian landscape and context for adolescents and women’s health
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a proficient command of the English language
  • A self-starter, with the ability to bring new ideas to achieve knowledge management goals and objectives
  • Experience in developing/managing knowledge management systems/programs
  • Strong knowledge of knowledge management principles and capacity to deliver knowledge management and organizational learning programs
  • Strong analytical skills to simplify complex information and present in formats that are easy to understand
  • Demonstrated experience in data visualization
  • Experience and knowledge in copywriting, proofreading, and editing is a requirement.
  • Skills to communicate complex issues to a variety of audiences with excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated advanced critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Significant experience in writing, documenting success stories, and coordinating learning sessions/events
  • Work experience leading a diverse, multi-divergent, multicultural team
  • Outstanding organizational and time-management skills
  • Leadership skills, diplomacy, and tact
  • Computer Skills – To perform this job successfully, excellent computer proficiency, with the ability to navigate the internet and email software; and good knowledge of MS Suite
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
